Management Strategies for Hormonally Active Agrochemicals The current debate within the EU apparently shows: The widespread use of agrochemicals and its possible negative impacts on humans and the environment is still a highly topical and controversial issue. Regarding the broad spectrum of chemicals available on the market those which interfere with the endocrine system are of particular concern. Their release into the environment may result in high risks for food and drinking water supply and human and ecosystem health. Given the partly uncertain scientific knowledge base and the strongly diverging interests of the various stakeholders, it remains as yet contested which precautionary measures are appropriate for dealing with the agrochemical problem. In cooperation with experts from practice the start2 project develops systemic management strategies that are thought of as complementing governmental regulation.
